Certainly this isn't how things really work (referring to the cartoon), but dad went to and from surgery this morning and the wound vac is already not working. ERGH!!! If only they had a "fix" for this problem. The pain pump was a great fix for the pain and relieved the nurses who couldn't quite bring the medicine timely anyway. Now, we just need a way for the wound vacs to work - consistantly! Dr. Duke's been called and hopefully he can get this worked out... otherwise it will be a very long weekend with lots of poking, prodding, pressing, and repositioning. They have to get this fixed, because we definitely don't want dad to have to endure all of that - again!

In and out of surgery and all went well. The pain pump seems to be a "God Send".

This post comes a few days late, but dad did go to surgery on Friday evening. It came much later than expected due to "holiday staffing", but all went well. He was also able to get a pump for his pain medicine, and that seems to really be helping. He no longer has to waiting for nurses to bring his meds every two hours. (which rarely happened on time anyway)

I was out of town for the holiday weekend, but I'll pick up on posting again. :)

Visiting

Dad did well in therapy this morning and finished up just in time to see a VERY SPECIAL VISITOR (thanks to special permission from the charge nurse). I came to visit too, but today I'm just the special visitor's chauffeur. Mimi of course was thrilled to see her "little ladybug", and Pawpaw got see his "sweetie" for the first time in quite a while.

Haircut

Today dad received his first real haircut since before the accident. His hair has thinned quite a bit since then, but what hasn't fallen out desperately needed to be trimmed. Marilyn came to visit and dad was able to sit in a regular chair and let her spruce him up.

As if sitting in that chair wasn't tiring enough, he also had regular therapy today. He did great!
