I am reminded of the story in Exodus 17:8-15, where the Israelites were fighting a battle against the Amelekites. Moses had the staff of God, and he, along with Aaron and Hur, stood at the top of the hill while the battle was taking place. "As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses' hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up -- one on one side, one on the other -- so that his hands remained steady till sunset. So Joshua overcame the Amelekite army with the sword.....Moses built an alter and called it The Lord is my Banner. He said, "For hands were lifted up to the throne of the Lord." (NIV)
Lord God, we lift up our hands to your throne in prayer in support of Louie. His body is growing tired and weary from all of the surgeries and trauma. Thank you, God, that you are fighting for Louie, and you give him strength to endure this battle. You, Lord, are his Banner. His hope rests in you. Give him victory in this battle. We ask also that you continue to strengthen Ruthie and the girls as they remain steadfast at Louie's side. In Jesus' Victorious Name, Amen.
"You, O Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall. As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. For who is God besides the Lord? and who is the Rock except our God? It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights. He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You give me your shield of victory, and your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great. You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn." (Psalm 18:28-36 NIV)
Louie, we continue to hold up your hands, along with many others, through our continued prayers as you fight this battle.... Lori and family
Ruthie and girls, Thank you for the updates and information. We anxiously await each one so we too can know how Louie and each of you are doing. Do not think for a minute that we have forgotten you. We are continuously lifting each of you, especially Louie, up in prayer and continue to storm heaven with prayers for his healing. We have not become complacent and you must keep the faith and know that we are all there with you in spirit and still feverishly praying, trusting the healing hand of God to be with Louie and the wisdom of the Holy Spirit to be with his doctors. We continue to pray for Greg and his family too.
