The Road Ahead...

Uncle Louie went to surgery earlier this morning and is already done. After the surgery one of the physicians came out to speak with Aunt Ruthie. He stated that Uncle Louie is still VERY sick. However, he thought that his abdomen is looking better. The doctor also stated that they were able to drain several hundred cc's of fluid from his chest cavity. The doctors were not overly concerned about the drainage and illustrated that this should help Uncle Louie to breathe easier. The doctors continue to talk about a trach being placed but at this point we will believe it when we see it.

The doctor also told Aunt Ruthie to expect the daily washouts to continue for the next two or three weeks. When the doctors determine that Uncle Louie is doing better and the risk for infection goes down the washouts will occur every other day instead of daily.

We know that the road ahead of Uncle Louie is still a long one, however we continue to believe that with your prayers and God's grace he will be healed. Please continue to pray that Uncle Louie has the strength to fight off any infection and to continue to get well.

Ephesians 3:20---God is able to do immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine.

  1. I just wanted to let you all know I am praying. I met Ruthie briefly when we lived in El Campo; she likely won't remember me, but we have a mutual friend (Robin T) who alerted me to the situation. I've been praying since I found out, and will continue.

  2. "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.....The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress....Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress." (Psalm 46)

God, thank you that you are ever-present with Louie. You are his fortress and his deliverer. Keep him strong so that he can fight off any attack of infection against his body. In Jesus' mighty name I pray. Amen

  3. Ruthie and family - all of you are ever in our thoughts and prayers. Take it one day at a time and surround yourself in God's love and healing powers. I pray for strength for all of you to endure the days and weeks ahead. Just remember to take care of yourselves too - get your rest (Louis would want you to take care of yourselves too) and let the doctors, nurses, and God do their work...
